چکیده
This study demonstrates transformation-induced plasticity (TRIP) in conjunction with twinning-induced (TWIP) α + β titanium alloys by introducing metastable retained β-phase. By annealing at 850 °C followed water quenching, β-phase (∼25%) was obtained Ti–6Al–4V alloy. Stress-induced phase transformation the produced orthorhombic α′′-martensite associated (021)α′′ twinning, which significantly increased work-hardening rate and uniform elongation. The findings reveal that minor is responsible for macroscopic deformation behavior could aid novel alloy design can increase work hardenability fewer alloying elements than currently available β-titanium alloys.

A Study of Fatigue Crack Initiation in a Two Phase Β-metastable Titanium Alloy
α/β titanium alloys are choice materials for aeronautical and automotive industries due to their high performance to density ratio. For several applications, fatigue resistance is one of the critical design parameter. Particularly, initiation of fatigue crack plays a key role. Furthermore, hardly anything can be found in the literature on the fatigue crack initiation in multiphase microstructur...
متن کاملFatigue properties of a metastable beta-type titanium alloy with reversible phase transformation.
Due to recent concern about allergic and toxic effects of Ni ions released from TiNi alloy into human body, much attention has been focused on the development of new Ni-free, metastable beta-type biomedical titanium alloys with a reversible phase transformation between the beta phase and the alpha'' martensite. This study investigates the effect of the stress-induced alpha'' martensite on the m...
متن کاملFlow Behavior of SP-700 Titanium Alloy During Hot Tensile Deformation in α+β and β Phase Regions
In this paper, in order to study the flow behavior and elongation of as-cast ingots of SP-700 titanium alloy, hot tensile test was done in α/β dual phase and β single phase regions using strain rate of 0.1 s-1. Results showed that the hot tensile behavior of SP-700 in the α/β dual phase region (700-900 ºC) was different from the β single phase one (950-1100 ºC) due to the nature of alpha and be...
متن کاملInterface-dominated Growth of a Metastable Novel Alloy Phase
A new D023 metastable phase of Cu3Au is found to grow at the interfaces of Au/Cu multilayers deposited by magnetron sputtering. The extent of formation of this novel alloy phase depends upon an optimal range of interfacial width primarily governed by the deposition wattage of the dc-magnetron used. Such interfacially confined growth is utilized to grow a ∼ 300 nm thick Au/Cu multilayer with thi...
متن کاملInvestigation of early stage deformation mechanisms in a metastable β titanium alloy showing combined TWIP and TRIP effects
As expected from the alloy design procedure, combined Twinning Induced Plasticity (TWIP) and Transformation Induced Plasticity (TRIP) effects are activated in a metastable β Ti-12(wt.%)Mo alloy. In-situ Synchrotron X-ray diffraction (XRD), electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) observations were carried out to investigate the deformation mechanisms an...
